Undergraduate Admissions Interviewing Program

Fellow Alums,

Do you remember your admissions interview? Was it a positive conversation or a perceived disaster? No matter what your experience, we need your help. The Harvard Club of the Hudson Valley covers 7 counties in the Mid Hudson region. We always have many outstanding applicants - often more than we can interview. We are asking you to volunteer to be an alumni interviewer for this admissions cycle now in progress.

Please consider this rewarding opportunity. Degree holders from all Harvard schools, not just the College, are welcome to participate. Interviews can be conducted remotely or in person, and supporting documents are provided. Interviewing is extremely rewarding and not a major time commitment. Each interview takes 30 to 45 minutes (no longer than an hour), and the online interview write-up takes up to another hour. Ideally, you would commit to conduct 2-3 Interviews. However, you are free to sign up for more or less, depending on your schedule. We will never give you more interviews than you request.

The purpose of the interview is to obtain an understanding of the applicant’s personal interests, passions, and special circumstances. The Harvard Admissions Office has all the academic and extracurricular credentials. So, interviewers are encouraged to get to know the person behind the paperwork. It is a wonderful way to meet some extraordinary young people.

Harvard makes this a very smooth process by providing you with guidelines, resources, and other supportive materials.

To volunteer or if you have questions, please contact Lisa Card, Chair of the Schools and Scholarships Committee at your earliest convenience. Please say, ”Yes!”

Thank you in advance for your help.
